Conference theme:GANZ 2008 will provide a therapeutic space in a community setting for Gestalt Practitioners and friends to reconnect through breath, body, sensation “The self or “I” is an embodied self as well as a thoughtful one. We exist, love, work and meet our constantly changing needs through our physical being and interactions in the world. Experience of our body is experience of our self just as our thinking; imagery and ideas are part of self.”……Jim Kepner The founders of gestalt therapy brought their experiences from dance movement and theatre to form the ‘body’ of gestalt. Laura studied with Elsa Gindler who influenced many founders of somatic psychotherapies, and Fritz learned subtle non verbal communication from theatre director Max Reinhardt. Furthermore, the focus on immediacy and awareness was enhanced by the influence of Zen Buddhism through Paul Weisz. GANZ 2008 is a re-honoring of these origins.
The world is... the natural setting of, and field for, all my thoughts and all my explicit perceptions. Truth does not inhabit only the inner man, or more accurately, there is no inner man, man is in the world, and only in the world does he know himself. Maurice Merleau-Ponty Welcome: |
