GANZ Conferences

GANZ provides a biennial conference for members. A Conference organising committee, approved by the GANZ Council, takes responsibility for creating this significant community gathering and professional development event. Each conference explores themes that relate to the theory and practice of Gestalt therapy, issues in the counselling and psychotherapy field, and the development of the GANZ community of practitioners.

The conference provides an opportunity for the Gestalt community to exchange ideas and develop the knowledge base and methodology of the Gestalt approach. Special emphasis is given to exploring how Gestalt is used in a wide range of practice contexts and applications. The conference is also a way that GANZ promotes Gestalt therapy to the wider professional community.

Practitioners and students are able to present papers and workshops on aspects of Gestalt therapy theory, practice, training, research, and broader applications. Presenters are mainly Australian and New Zealand, with overseas presenters welcomed. Presentations are peer reviewed for suitability based on criteria such as the quality of the presentation and its relationship to the conference theme. Professional development hours may be claimed by GANZ Members. Conferences are places for professional development and relationship building. Each conference, while having a unique flavour, strongly emphasises experiential processes and dialogue. In the tradition of Gestalt, conference events encourage personal and professional learning through making contact, being creative and having fun.
