Accreditation Processes

Accreditation Processes

Gestalt training institutes in Australia and New Zealand are independent of one another and each institute chooses the Accreditation Processes that best suit their training needs and local context. It is the responsibility of each institute to ensure that their accreditation status is current.

GANZ Accreditation

GANZ accredited courses fulfil the requirements of the GANZ Education and Training Standards 2007. (Provide link to PDF) These standards are closely aligned to those developed by PACFA. Accreditation is for a 5 year period and the present round of accreditation for all centres began in 2009.

PACFA Accreditation (Australian Institutes only)

PACFA accreditation is for a 5 year period and a number of courses began their PACFA accreditation in 2009. The list of PACFA accredited courses can be viewed on the PACFA Website ( click here ) together with the documents that outline PACFA requirements and accreditation processes.

Higher Education Accreditation

A number of Gestalt training centres have also had their courses inspected and accredited by their local education authority thus becoming a higher education provider. Usually such accreditation is for a period of 5 years. Those GANZ accredited training programmes that have also obtained higher education accreditation are detailed in Accredited Courses

Accreditation as a higher education provider allows Australian Gestalt training centres to take advantage of the Commonwealth Government loan given to eligible fee paying students to help pay part or all of their tuition fees, FEE-HELP.

The Gestalt Institute of New Zealand’s higher education accreditation with the New Zealand Qualifications Authority ensures that graduates of the programme may apply to PBANZ (Psychotherapy Board of Aotearoa New Zealand) to be registered as a Psychotherapist. It is noted that in New Zealand the title "psychotherapist" is protected and only those registered by the Psychotherapists Board of Aotearoa New Zealand may use the title psychotherapist.
