Gestalt PractitionersWhile Gestalt practitioners are a diverse group with different styles of working, places of work and emphasis in the work they remain committed to a common perspective. The Gestalt practitioner pursues a relationship with a client that is respectful and attuned to the immediacy of the emerging dialogue between therapist and client. The focus is on describing and understanding the unique experience of a client rather than interpreting and generalising about the experience. The Gestalt practitioner also offers a delicate balance of support and challenge in addressing the client's hopes and concerns. Interventions (sometimes referred to as 'creative experimentation') involving both therapist and client explore different and more fulfilling ways for the client to be in their life space.
