On the subject of suicide in Gestalt psychotherapy

4 April 2023 @ 6:00 pm 8:00 pm

Working with clients presenting with risk of suicide or a history of suicidality is often experienced as challenging and distressing for psychotherapists. This 2-hour webinar will provide some insight and understanding into the complex nature of suicidality through the lens of Gestalt theory and practice, as well as selected broader clinical frameworks. The interactive webinar will include an overview of Gestalt thinking on this topic and small group discussions around participants’ own experience and dilemmas around tackling suicidality in their psychotherapy practice.

Presenter:

Karolina Krysinska, PhD, is a Gestalt psychotherapist in private practice at Lygon Therapy in Melbourne. She completed her Gestalt training at The Relational Institute in Sydney and has been involved with Gestalt Therapy Australia in Melbourne since 2018. Karolina is an experienced research psychologist, and her main interest for the last 25 years has been suicide research and prevention. She is a Senior Research Fellow at the Centre for Mental Health at the University of Melbourne.
